(New York, NY)

As a native New Yorker and founder of Walking Tours Manhattan, I have always been in search of New York's most iconic foods. This gastronomic endeavor has brought me to all neighborhoods in this great city, and here are my favorite foods in Manhattan. The order is random but all are #1 specific winners in each category.

Murry's Bagels

Chunchy top with soft chewy center, and a lovely brown color.
500 6th Ave, and 242 8th Ave.

Joe's Pizza

If the long lines didn't impress you, then the thin-crust with fresh home-made tomato sauce and mozzarella will.
7 Carmine St.

Magnolia Bakery

OK so there're famous from Sex and the City, and responsible for long lines, but you won't find a fresher or tastier cupcake.
401 Bleecker St.

Yohah Schimmel's Knish

This 100-year old institution is the last knish baker standing on the Lower East Side, have the potato, its soft in the center with a light pastry shell baked to perfection.
137 East Houston St.

The Best Chocolate Cake in the World

Flour-less chocolate cake made with layers of chocolate moose, chocolate meringue, and chocolate ganache, try it you'll like it.
55A Spring St.

2nd Avenue Deli

Hot dogs from a grey water food vendor, fuhgetabouit! This is the real deal, all beef, secret spices, juicy, with that unforgetable snap.
162 East 33 St.

Prosperity Dumplings

This restaurant is the size of an elevator, but the pork dumplings are huge. A delicious bargain at 5 for 1 dollar.
46 Eldridge St.

Junior's Cheesecake

They've been baking this winner for over 60 years, and have it down pat. Best to let it sit 1 hour before eating.
1515 Broadway

Rocco's Cannoli

Have the mini, a little taste of heaven in your mouth, piped fresh when you order.
243 Bleecker St.

L'Arte del Gelato

Made in small batches, incredibly fresh with an excellent assortment of flavors, including sorbets.
75 7th Ave. South, & 75 9th Ave. (Chelsea Market)
